How Lethal Will Bronson Meydi Be In His First CT Event?
The World Junior Champ takes his first lap in Abu Dhabi.
It must be a jarring contrast to come from surfing’s most fabled island chain — a place overflowing with world-class waves so perfect they might as well be engineered — and find yourself in the Persian Gulf, set to lace up for your first CT in a wave assembled by machines.
But swapping tectonic sorcery for a man-made pulse doesn’t seem to faze Bronson Meydi — the 2024 World Junior Champ and the latest name slapped onto the roster for the inaugural Surf Abu Dhabi Pro.
Competition kicks off in less than 24 hours. Official run dates are February 14th to 16th — a flicker in the dark compared to the drawn-out wait for the Lexus Pipe Pro. But thanks to the wonders of robotics, there’s no room for lay days — unless the system implodes, of course. The swell will show up, like it always does at Abu Dhabi Surf — yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Bronson’s brought the whole Indomoment posse to the land of oil and Middle Eastern princes — one of whom goes by the name of Mitch Crews — featuring Rizal Tandjung, who makes a cameo in the clip above, giving the local tub a test spin. Bronson, you’ll notice, has adopted a unique frontside tube stall, perhaps borrowed from our latest Microdose pupil, Lungi Slabb.
