He Surfs Meaner Than A Schnauzer In a Vacuum Emporium!
One week on the North Shore with Barron Mamiya.
After narrowly missing CT qualification at Sunset, Barron Mamiya was forced to sit-out most of the 2019/20 North Shore winter with a shoulder injury.
This must have devastated the Hawaiian, who in recent years has been an undeniable force at Pipeline, riding tiny boards in huge surf and taking off noticeably deeper than the pack. Barron also placed second at last year’s Volcom Pipe Pro, losing only to Jack Robinson and asserting his intentions and ability in the process.
You might remember this 10-pointer he scooped prior to the final.
All of which is to say, when Barron was finally back in good health, he attacked the surf with more ferocity than schnauzer in a vacuum emporium. The film above was all captured over the course of one week, which if you know anything about surfing on the North Shore, is goddamn impressive.
One thing is clear: the future of Pipeline is firmly within Barron’s grasp.
