He Just Belted That Wave Like A Red-Headed Step-Child!

Growing up as a natural-footer in Peru, Lucca Mesinas' backhand was always gonna be good. But what we saw around the 6:20 mark of this clip was genuinely world-class.

What I love about Lucca's approach is the fluidity between maneuvers. He simply transitions from rail to rail with such impeccable timing that he rarely (if ever) has to pump. It's pure, efficient, and damn near perfect surfing.

Unfortunately for Lucca, he can't currently surf any of the Peruvian waves in this clip, for two reasons:

1. Peru's beaches remain closed indefinitely thanks to covid.

2. On his return home from the Australian QS events, Peru closed its borders, leaving Lucca "stranded" in Hawaii with his girlfriend.

Homesickness considered, things could be worse.
