Get Hypnotized By Rob Machado’s ‘The Color Of Winter’
An 18-minute ode to S.D. surfing.
Shot almost entirely during the first and last hour of daylight during the coldest months, Rob Machado and Pat Stacy spent the past five seasons creating a film that’s so dreamy, alluring and hypnotic that our remote staff is considering relocating to San Diego to capture even a sliver of this low-lit glory.
While hearty doses of slow-mo aren’t typically our thing, it certainly works in The Color Of Winter, allowing you to dissect every nuance of Rob’s movements on a variety of craft.
Cameos by Tanner Gudauskas, Taylor Knox, the Tudors and Ryan Burch make you want call your buddies, get up before the birds and brave the cold.
