Fall In Love With Griffin Colapinto All Over Again With This Pre-Surf-Hype Banger
Two raw sessions at Keramas that will leave your chin on the tile.
Griffin Colapinto exploded onto our radar like a Supernova with dazzling hucks at Haleiwa, forehand carves that left an avalanche in their wake, and a 10-pointer in his first event at Kirra.
Despite some positive performances since, Griffin’s competitive ascension hasn’t been as rapid as some (including us) had predicted. Finishing 18th and 16th in his respective CT seasons, Griff’s yet to establish himself as a true force on Tour, which in fairness, is to be expected of any newcomer (just ask his neighborhood pal, Brother). But some of the surfing that Griffin’s done—and continues to do—leaves us convinced that there’s more in his tank.
Take the above video as an example. It features Griff going positively loony over the course of two sessions at Keramas, filmed by Dylan Roberts between heats at the 2018 Corona Pro Bali.
The airs, the carves, and Griffin’s general flow cannot be overlooked. Watching this made us fall in love with his surfing all over again. And we’ll be watching before each of our surfs for the next month.
