Dad Cam Chronicles: Wet Shoulder League Vs. Snaketales

TL;DR: Everybody wins (and everybody loses).

The fiercest rivalry in (semi) professional surfing is upon us, and the battle is magnificent. Think Kelly vs. Andy. Think Kelly vs. Old Age.

What we have is a behind-the-scenes brawl; a dad-cam odyssey through the highs, lows, busted dreams, and fleeting hopes of the Challenger Series.

One crew, dragged by Snake Paterson, features Macy Callaghan, Jett Schilling, Shion Crawford, Kade Matson, and Hiroto Ohhara. The other, steered by Matt Myers, rolls with Levi Slawson, Nolan Rapoza, Alyssa Spencer, and Sanoa Dempfle-Olin.

Sometimes, the CS hustle itself tells the story. Other times, all we need for entertainment is Matt Myers hurling expletives at Sanoa Dempfle-Olin from the sands of Saquarema.

With cameras rolling and hearts on fire, nobody makes the tour. Still, both the Wet Shoulder League and Snaketales qualify as highly entertaining representations of competitive surfing.

Saquarema marks the last stop on the 2024 Challenger Series, and with it comes the final episodes from the two ringmasters. Expect them both to return when the 2025 tour rolls around. But for now, click here to crawl into the mind of the Snake — one of our original podcast guests.
