Coming Soon: DB’s Portrait Of The CT’s Most Experienced Competitor
“There’s not much more I could ask for in life, you know?”
Caity Simmers was one year old while Jordy Smith was qualifying for the CT.
He won the QS in 2008 and started winning events by his sophomore year on tour (starting with Jeff’s Bay). He’s also put out some of the best free surf parts of this millennium. And made a profile film. And became an Olympian, twice. And did Stab In The Dark, twice! And he’s still winning heats — Jordy booked Al Cleland Jr an early flight home from Portugal.
You won’t find a more experienced guy or gal on tour, and DB recently treated him to some aurora borealis to contemplate that. Oh, they also scored some waves.
Jordy’s episode of DB’s series ‘Pack Heavy, Chase Light’ airs on March 27. One learning from the teaser above? The elusive world title doesn’t seem to occupy the space between his ears when he should be in REM. “There’s not much more I could ask for in life, you know?”
Despite most of us not having accomplished a twentieth of what he has, we do understand the sentiment there Jords.
You’ll find the full ep right here on Stab next week.
