Dion Agius departed Tasmania when he was 16 years old.

Eager to realise his surf and creative potential, he did what many youngsters do when they outgrow their sleepy birth-towns; they pack up and head for the big smoke.

The pull of the quiet life, however can eventually overpower adolescent ambition, especially when you’re talking about the magnetic qualities of Tasmania; which is practically a World Heritage listed island at the edge of the earth, with air so delightful, people buy canisters of it for $18.80AU a pop (seriously).

Anyway, Dion and filmer/manager friend, Beren Hall were recently wandering around Van Diemen’s land together, documenting the reasons for Dion’s return to his motherland, doing what all good filmer-surfer couples do; surfing and shooting. 

However this trip was a little different. Instead of running his usual RED camera, Mr Hall had his hands on GoPro’s latest HERO6.

Now – while we usually associate a handheld lens with selfie poles, Namibian POVs and floundering tourists in knee high whitewater – along with capturing traditional action moments in the brine, Beren held his black box up to the Tasmanian wilderness, field-testing its enhanced performance capabilities.

We won’t bother transcribing the shining review Beren and Dion gave the micro lens. We’ll allow you to make your own judgement above.

So hit recline and enjoy a few cinematic moments with Dion and mother nature’s finest.
