Bruce Irons Lost In Round Two But Still Won The Rip Curl Cup At Padang
The best wave will always be remembered.
Some of the world’s best barrel riders arrived in Bali on Sunday for the Rip Curl Padang Padang event. On day two of the waiting period, swell swang through the sacred ground and local hero, Mega Semadhi, took the title for the second time since 2013. The final was fit with Clay Marzo (the only way to get Clay in competition is a piping left with three other gents out), Damien Hobgood, Mason Ho and Mega. But Bruce Irons, who had his only CT win at Padang, tallied up this perfect ten–and the wave of the day–as he parked into a running tunnel in familiar Irons’ style. Second and first place are easy to forget at Padang, but whoever finds the best wave is remembered.
Rip Curl Cup Final Results:
First: Mega Semadhi 19.00
Second: Damien Hobgood 16.60
Third: Mason Ho 15.50
Fourth: Clay Marzo 4.00
