Puerto Rico Is The Poor Man’s Indo
Marley Puglielli indulges in the flavors of his homeland.
Australians are quite lucky. On top of being the most wave-rich nation on the globe, their next-door neighbor, Indonesia, is right there in that same discussion. For the people of Australasia, spinning tubes are almost always within reach.
For those of us in the USA, it just ain’t so.
The east coast has good waves but is terribly fickle (other than this March… and last September), and unless you’ve got a highway-worthy vehicle and all the time in the world, it’s damn hard to find a hollow wave in the Golden State.
But we do have a couple of outs. For west coasters, it’s Hawaii. East coasters, Puerto Rico.
Marley Puglielli is a resident of the latter, and during the east coast’s historic run of swell this March, he found himself scoring all around the U.S. island territory.
It ain’t quite Indo, but still, damn fun waves.
