Thanks to Cyclone Linda — a small subtropical low that formed off Australia’s northeastern quadrant late last week — the 2018 Quiksilver Pro finished in stellar conditions at the Gold Coast’s famed sand point, Kirra. But away from the Coolangatta madness, a few notable non-competitors headed north for some double, triple, even quadruple pits at an unnamed sand point. Primarily it was Sheldon Simkus, Josh Kerr, and Sebastian Zietz sticking their hands in cookie jar and often going back for thirds. And wasn’t it worth the bellyache?
