AI-Generated Surfing Gorilla Proves The Goofy v Regular Theory
Big Dick Power Surfer knew it all along.
Last week, Big Dick Power Surfer published a piece called “Poor Goofy Foots“, which uses both hard stats and soft sciences to argue that there’s inherent bias against those who stand with their right foot forward.
We didn’t think much of it, until we saw this clip of an AI gorilla surfing both regular and goofy. What’s curious is that, despite receiving (presumably) the same coding for both stances, the gorilla clearly surfs better as a regular foot — more stylish, better wave knowledge, superior board control.
Barring that one bowly left toward the end of the clip, the goofy gorilla is basically a kook — dodging tubes, squatty turns and all the rest. The regular gorilla is super capable on the face and in the barrel, even throwing some fins for good measure.
So does the AI-generated gorilla clip further support the theory that we’re biased against goofs, or does it raise a different one entirely — that goofs are, simply, worse at everything?
PS: Remember when we posed the question, How Could Artificial Intelligence Change Surfing? We hope this isn’t it.
