A First-Timer’s Guide To Teahupo’o
Every wanted to test your gumption in the French Polynesian atolls? Here’s what your experience might look like.
The latest Brett Barley vlog could be considered solid infor-tainment.
Meaning that, while the video is enjoyable to watch, it also provides useful knowledge for wannabe Teahupo’o surfers.
In the 16-minute vlog, Brett reveals: where you stay (in a rental house at the “end of the road”), where you eat (there’s only one restaurant in town!), how to check the surf (binoculars), how to paddle out (over 30 minutes across a long, deep lagoon), how difficult it is to get good waves (on a “hyped” swell, very), and how to negotiate at deep west bowl (we’re still not entirely sure).
Click the video above to watch Brett’s First-timer’s Teahupo’o Guide. Best case you learn something new, worst case you witness some damn fine surf.
