A Board For The Surfer Who Subsists On Steak And Starch

No frills here, just pure Australian utilitarianism.

As anyone from Yamba and/or Newcastle will aggrievedly tell you, this should have been Morgan Cibilic’s rookie year on the Championship Tour.

Instead, like every other Title-aspiring surfer around the planet, Morgan has been denied his right to compete on the basis of protecting our planet from an occasionally lethal disease.

Fair enough.

On the bright side, Morgan’s used the downtime to dial in his equipment for whenever the hell these events start up again. In fact, Morgan’s put in so much “work” during the break that his shaper—the notoriously big-thinking Will Webber—developed a whole new model for Morgan.

Webber calls it The Wundabat.

From everything we’ve seen in this video, we can presume that The Wundabat is a utility-based machine. It will get you from Points A-B with speed and integrity, but no frills have been afforded—a board for the surfer who subsists on steak and starch.

If it’s bells and whistles you seek, look elsewhere.

According to Webber:

“The Wundabat sports a higher, slight hip, deeper single concave and accelerated tail rocker. Ridden narrower than normal in conjunction with the hip gives a really drivey rail between the feet. The tail foil is more refined and pod pulled in to help you dominate the deep single concave. Maximum drive, hold and release for smooth powerhouse surfing.”

But surely you’d already gathered that from watching the Australian Conner Coffin surf.
