A 4’9 Mini-Board At Six-Foot Backdoor? No Worries For Mason Ho!
Mase proves yet again that it’s the Indian, not the arrow.
You know how people used to say that Kelly Slater could ride a barn door?
Well he kind of did, in that old Taj Burrow movie—along with a toboggan, a suitcase, and a coffee table—but that was in piddly one-foot surf. Riding abstract crafts doesn’t really count unless there’s some energy in the ocean, and 4-6 foot Backdoor would certainly qualify.
These are the conditions in which Mason Ho most recently sampled his 4’9 mini-board—a …Lost Rad Ripper to be exact—and the results are precisely as you’d expect: Mason windmilling his hairy arms to get over the ledge, falling on a few late drops, but ultimately putting together an envy-inducing session.
He then advanced to smaller but potentially more perilous waves at his favorite rock emporium, where alongside Jordy Smith, Mason threaded small, technical tubes toward an inevitably painful end.
It’s another high-class output from the Ho-Pringle team, and we highly recommend you give it a watch.
