⅕ Of The CT Get Boxed 

West Aus was a little prickly this season. 

Wasn’t her fault. Up until then, the first leg had all 52 CT surfers before the mid-season cut shaved off the bottom 12 men and six women. As such, the WA contest site had a weird ‘funeral’ milieu about it as losers were cast away to service the WSL’s hot new storyline. 

The event could have run at the Box this year, but it didn’t. Despite its proximity to Main Break, the box was mostly shithouse until the final days, at which point relocating the contest site/broadcast team was off the cards. Plus, although watching people get drained on loop can be fun, it also fatigues fairly quickly. It wasn’t exactly macking either.

Long story short, better packaged up in a highlight reel.
