Win (Or Lose) Money On Stab High!
Have a punt on the pool.
Have you opened up your wallet and pre-purchased your Stab High viewing tickets yet? Are you now struggling with the harrowing financial burden of losing $9USD?
Well, fear no more!
You can now win back your losses, or, cascade further into deficit when you inevitably lose out by having a punt on Stab High.
I’m talking about gambling, and thanks to TopSport you can now attempt to win some money on the very event we’ve been bombarding you with for weeks.
There’s no Sportsbet-esque odds for highest air, blown ACL’s, or the first person to fight a local hillbilly, just straight up winners odds.
Anyway, let’s take a look at their offerings.
Unsurprisingly, Albee Layer is sitting pretty at $6 bones, closely followed by fellow Hawaiian Matt Meola. These two have been long lauded for their above-lip capacity and diverse range of aerial variations. Another factor helping these two will be the air-wind fan blowing cross-‘shore’ if the surfers decide to flip the switch.
Chippa Wilson, another aerial veteran, slid into third place at $7.50. Chippa was our original favourite to win the event based on his freakishly high stomp rate, and combined with a penchant for rarely seen technical tweaks it’s a surprise he isn’t paying less.
Noa Deane is also on $7.50, and I’m going to safely assume that Head Noise is a large reason of why he’s there. A worthy punt, but a risk considering he’s never set foot in the Waco pool.
Every serious punter knows that only rookies bet on the favourites though. What you really want is to throw the house on a roughie. A bet whispered to you by some shady bloke at the pub as he sinks his seventh schooner.
Consider me to be that schooner sipping prophet. Here’s my big money suggestions.
Dion Agius. $21. You’ve gotta be farking keeding me! Dion’s well and truly an aerial veteran, and there’s few on our list who have spent as long dialling their technical airs to a T like Dion. If you’re a fan of minimising risks with big pay offs, throw a bone to Dion.
Harry Bryant at $26. Now, Harry is mostly known for the straight air. A relatively straightforward punt that’s a requisite in any non-competitive surfer’s arsenal. Standard straight airs won’t be scoring absurdly high in our comp, but one’s which clear the section or supplant the wall behind will. A straight air might’nt be technically impressive, but a huge one will undoubtedly be scoring high on our critical scale.
Brendon Gibbens at $21. Look, we haven’t seen or heard too much from Beeg over the past few months, but an early viewing of his soon-to-be-released edit shows he’s still in fine form. If you need to pay off an exorbitant debt or are trying to re-coup other gambling losses than Beeg might be a hit at $19.
Happy punting, but only do so responsibly!
