We Know Who Won Snapt4’s 50k First Prize

You’re not gonna believe this.

We’ve teased you long enough. Let’s get straight to the point.

The winner of the best Snapt4 section and $50,000 is…Jack Robinson!

This result will come as little surprise to any of the 250k people who’ve seen the film. Robbo’s section has everything you could want, from fuck you airs to corrosive carves and even a head-dip or two.

As we said in our initial film review, there were a lot of memorable parts, but Jack’s was the most refined. From the surfing to the cinematography and everything in between, the skills on display were unparalleled. That’s why Jack finished with 27.6 out of a possible 30 points — nines across the board from director Logan Dulien’s esteemed judging panel.

But…what if we told you that Jack’s section didn’t technically score the highest? That there was another surfer who Mick, Bobby, and Taj liked even better, and gave a total of 28.8 points, but due to forces both in and outside of the surfer’s control, he was disqualified from the $50k grand prize?

Believe it or not, it happened. And no, it wasn’t Salmon Boy. It was Barron Mamiya.

Read how Barron should have won, but unfortunately had to relinquish, a $50k prize due to a gametime decision, here.
