Wavegardens can’t stop, won’t stop!

Wavepools and sharks are so 2015! The newest location to be #blessed with a wavegarden is Portugal. Another country with great waves that really doesn’t need one. The only Wavegarden that seems to make sense is the one in Austin, Texas. But nevertheless, less than 500m away from the beach in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal; the seeds for a new wavepool have been sewn. 10 million euros and two years have been buried in the dirt and with a little fertilizer and water a new wavepool will grow and patrons will come. If the beautiful beaches, pointbreaks and port wine cellars aren’t enough for Gaia a wavepool will surely be the icing on the cupcake, cue tourism and revenue! “The equipment will be the result of an excellent coastline,” Gaia Mayor Vitor Rodrigues told Surfer Today. “This is an example of private initiative that will certainly benefit Gaia.”

Hopefully it’ll have less technological malfunctions than it’s counterpart in Wales. And, at least Red Bull’s got a new location to UNLEASH! upon.
