Hundreds of surfers have taken part in a tribute paddle out for the two Western Australian men murdered in Mexico late last year. The gathering was held on Sunday morning at Secret Harbour, the pair’s hometown south of Perth. Family and friends sat on boards, threw flowers and linked together in a ring of honour to pay their respects. Floral wreaths were sprawled out on the sand and a tribute table was set up at the beach parking lot.
Adam Colman and Dean Lucas, lifelong friends, went missing in November whilst travelling from Cabo San Lucas to Guadalajara, Mexico. A burnt out van was then discovered in the gang-heavy state of Sinoloa containing the bodies of the men.
Three individuals known to be part of a drug and theft orientated criminal group have since been arrested in relation to the murders.
Global tributes were also held in Mexico and the US in December.
