Taj Burrow Has A New Sponsor

For those who believed that Billabong pushed their Trilogy star out the door to make cap space, that’s simply not the case. Here’s the real story:

Today, via Instagram, Taj Burrow announced his big, post-Billabong move: Globe.

Taj and Globe have been together since practically the new millennium, but the shoe-turned-lifestyle brand never crept past his board’s wide point (whether that was a Webber, Firewire, …Lost, or beyond), as Billabong laid claim to Burrow’s precious upper real estate.

But after 25 years with Australia’s favorite watering hole, the 41-year-old has been successfully poached by another legacy brand, this one still operated by its founders.

Taj’s caption reads: “Big changes coming from Globe apparel and I’m so excited to announce that I’m jumping in with them to be a part of a new beginning!”

It’s been rumored that Dion Agius, a long-time fan/friend of Taj and fellow Joe G disciple, rapped his well-adorned knuckles on the door of the Globe’s marketing department and convinced them to go all-in on the West Aussie. It’s also been rumored Globe plans to release a sophisticated and more elegantly-priced line of apparel with the soon-to-be father-of-two.

So watch out for that.
