Shark ‘Pulls’ Man From Surfboard In Perth
Mick Fanning style, the shark was snagged in his legrope.
This afternoon, as a long-weekend extends itself in Perth, a man was knocked from his surf after a shark was caught in his legrope. Images of Mick Fanning’s shark incident in Jeffreys Bay in 2015, the shark was caught in the man’s legrope and pulled him underwater.
Fortunately however the shark was under two metres in size, and rather than being a great white, it was a slightly less life threatening, bronze whaler. Additionally, he swam away unscathed, without injury to himself and less importantly his board. The website, Shark Smart, did however break the news that his “legrope was damaged.” We’re sure the surfer involved will be happy to replace it.
There have already been six fatal shark attacks in Australia this year, and an equal amount of attacks which led to both severe and minor injuries. We’re happy to here that the incident in Perth today was neither of which and the man involved will surf another day.
