Search Called Off For Quiksilver CEO
After more than 24 hours, French authorities call off search for Pierre Agnes.
According to the Landes prefecture, the search for Quiksilver CEO Pierre Agnes has been called off, after French Coast Guard ships, helicopters, and countless volunteers searched the coast off Hossegor and Capbreton for more than 24-hours.
After calling the search off for the night Tuesday, French CROSS (Regional Operational Monitoring and Rescue Center) of Etel resumed the search began again, 7:45 Wednesday morning aboard the Saint Nicolas II and Captain Martin Jorlis, as well as jet skis and the Maritime Gendarmerie P603 Adour.
The search for Agnes continued throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, when the search was called off.
“At 2.35 pm, after consultation with the director of the CROSS Etel, the maritime prefect of the Atlantic decided to suspend search at sea by directed means.”
On Tuesday, Agnes took his boat out fishing, leaving Capbreton Harbor early in the morning. According to Reuters, “Agnes sent a message to port authorities indicating that he was delaying his return because of thick fog. His beached boat was later found empty not far from Hossegor.”
