It’s been one year since Ricardo Dos Santos was shot, and killed, outside his home by off-duty Military Police Officer Luis Brentano. If you feel the need, you can refresh your memory on the details, here. Or more fittingly on the one year anniversary of his death, you can refresh your memory on how goddamn good Ricardo was in big barrels, here.
To mark the year since Ricardo was killed, a paddle out memorial was held at his local Guarda do Embaú, with around 200 people paddling out at 5pm, before a priest-led ceremony was held in the centre of town. Yago Dora and Jean de Silva were among those who paddled out to honour the memory of Ricardo, along with friends, family, fans, and anyone who Ricardo meant something to. Pour one out for Ricardo tonight.
See that white home with the green roof in the background? That was Ricardo’s place. It was only 10 metres from there that he was shot.
That big yellow house you can see in the back there is Ricardo’s grandpa’s place, which he was working on the morning he was killed.
Remembering Ricardo.
