Possible Justice For Two Murdered Surfers
Mexican police have arrested three men in suspicion of murdering Perth surfers Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas. The men admitted shooting a long-haired tourist in the head when he resisted as they tried to rob him. They then confessed to killing the second man. The truck that the tourists were travelling in was then set on fire with the two bodies inside. The van has now been identified as having to belonged to the Perth Pair. Chief state prosecutor Marco Antonio Higuera Gomez told reporters that, “These people are part of a criminal group dedicated to vehicle thefts, drug dealing and with a history of committing murders.” The burnt out van‘s identification numbers matched the vehicle owned by the two surfers, but their bodies have yet to be positively identified. The surfer’s girlfriends are thought to be travelling to the Sinoloa area with dental records and hair samples, in the hope of being able to identify the men. The mayor of Navolato – a city in the state of Sinoloa where the two men were allegedly killed – has said that the area is, “Like a Bermuda Triangle where criminal acts occur quite frequently, which we must deal with as a government.” The fact that suspects have been identified so quickly has to be a positive step in the seemingly lawless, gang-controlled state of Sinoloa.
