Nathan Florence, Matt Meola, Rob Machado Start All-American Light Beer Company
“It’s cheap, it’s light, and you can drink it all day if you want. We’re not trying to be some new hippie IPA weird craft beer that 1% of people are going to like.”
“Dude, we started a beer company,” Surfer Of The Year Nathan Florence tells us over the phone, chuckling. “You know how we are, drinking the tasty light beer you can drink all day long, 30-rack at every party. We realized we needed to be doing it for ourselves, so we started a beer company.”
Who is we?
Well, alongside a few of the OG’s from hard kombucha brand Juneshine — who have distribution channels and the backend know-how — Nathan is joined in his newest endeavor by Rob Machado, Matt Meola, and Albee Layer.
Though the marketing on Easy Rider speaks for itself, Nate gave us the full rundown.
“The goal is to just be a tasty light beer. It’s American made, gives back to national parks, and we’re stoked on how it came out. The look is awesome, the taste is awesome. Classic throwback to the big beers of the 90’s. We’re not trying to be some new hippie IPA weird craft beer that 1% of people are going to like. There’s so much of that, I don’t even drink any of that shit. We figured let’s make a good beer, it’s going to be cheap, it’s going to be light, and you can drink it all day if you want to.”
The beer is now being sold through the US, planned to hit Hawaii probably in the next few weeks, launch parties in SoCal and Hawaii in March, and a ‘world takeover’ following that.
Following Saint Archer’s $76 million sale and the Balter Boys’ $200 million dollar payout, Nate says he was definitely inspired to go the route of equity ownership, alongside his usual marketing ambassador role.
“It definitely crosses your mind when you see those big successful beers with the big buyouts at the end like ‘Wow, that looks fun.’ It wasn’t the only driving factor, but definitely part of why I took equity. You want the success of the business, you want the payout at the end, and you want to enjoy the ride too.”
Figure out where you can buy some slab-fuel here.
