Quik’s longstanding search for eight of the world’s best groms has been sifted through, plucked from the hashtags by us (being Stab) and today, the final four were decided upon by the public, Mikey Wright, Zeke Lau, and Kanouhh… Mikey Wright.

Before we introduce the Young Guns 2019 finalists, let’s backtrack a bit.

Young Guns has a deep-rooted history in surfing, starting with Quik’s surf films starring Kelly Slater (with hair) and helped introduce the collective surf consciousness to stars such as Dane Reynolds, Clay Marzo, ‘Riss Moore, and Julian Wilson. Quik’s grom program would eventually morph into a competitive format coined King of the Groms. KOTG, over the years, has been won by the likes of Gabby Medina, Mikey Wright, Matt Banting, Alejo Muniz, Wiggles Dantes and many more. Winning KOTG is no small feat, as many have gone onto not only compete but dominate the World Tour.

Then, a few years back, KOTG rebranded back to Young Guns because King of the Groms excluded the gals from entering the draw. And the twenty-teens are all-inclusive.

The past two years, Sebastian Williams blitzed the competition, snagging the Young Guns title and $10k in Sumbawa, then the following year in Kelly’s Pond. But he’s past the threshold of 18 years old, and it’s time for one of our four finalists to take his place.

And your four finalists are…

Meet the public’s fav, Brazil’s Leo Casal:

Meet Mikey Wright’s pick, San Diego’s Levi Slawson:

Meet Zeke Lau’s pick, Oahu’s Luke Swanson:

And Kanouhhh, Mikey Wright’s Second Pick (Kanoa missed the deadline so Mikey figured he would’ve selected San Clemente’s Jett Schilling):

Stay tuned, these four are headed to Portugal to battle it out for $10k come November and we will be following every step of the youthful ride.
