Matty Wilkinson arrested for being drunk in the US

Matty Wilkinson, 23 years old, Australian, “renowned party-boy” (as papers like the Herald Sun are calling him) has been the Dream Tour’s comic relief in 2011 (the perm, fruity wetsuits, scooting into Snapper on rollerblades, etc). Booze is synonymous with Wilko’s game and, for the kid from Copacabana, things turned not quite sour, but a little tart, last week when he was arrested by police on Balboa Boulevard in Newport. The reason? Drunk and disorderly. Matty was lying on the side of the road after what was no doubt an awesome night. “We just bought so much food and the gas bottle is primed all we need is babes!” he Tweeted a few hours before being arrested. “And this will be the best day ever!” The cops were called after they received reports of a (hairy) man lying in a street. “He was arrested for essentially being drunk in public,” Newport Beach Police sergeant Doug Jones said. Though arrested on October 22, Wilko’s mishap wasn’t made public till yesterday when local rag, the Newport Beach Independent, reported the incident. All mainstream papers reporting on the incident have taken the time to peruse Wilko’s blog, Out2Brunch, and pull the ‘about me’ for their stories: “I’m superbadass and the women love it”. Wilko was released from custody when the police deemed him sober and it’s unlikely that he’ll be charged. Time’s never wasted when you’re wasted all the time.
