The 22nd iteration of the Padang Padang Cup is here, and The Indian Ocean just coughed up a south-southwest swell with more grunt than Mikey Wright’s mullet.

What’s important to know here? Well it’s a leaderboard format. So you’re surfing against the entire (stacked) field. 

Pros: less nefarious heat strategy i.e. hassling to get your w’s. 
Cons: you might get stitched up with the tide.

What else? 

Some of the best tuberiders on earth are in the draw. Along with local tube specialists such as Made “Bol” Adi Putra (two-time winner) who could probably get it done with his eyes sewn shut. 

Btw, 75 million rupiah on the line (equivalent to roughly two years average Indonesian strategy). Or three cocktails at Bondi Icebergs’ Oyster bar.
