Just Announced: Western Australia Is Getting A Wave Pool
URBNSURF’s latest proposal.
More big promises from the folk at URBNSURF with plans released today that involve building one of their wave pools in Perth – Alfred’s Cove to be precise. This will be the third Australian announcement from the Wavegarden-affiliated company, who have already revealed ambitious plans to construct artificial waves for both Sydney and Melbourne. The proposed site at Tompkins Park, just nine kilometres from the Perth CBD, will hold a licensed cafe, rooftop bar, beach club and an adjustable sized wave to cater for beginners to the highly capable, along with their thirsty spectators (hey, they’ve gotta make that $25 mil back somehow).
With little more than artist’s impressions laid over location imagery, questions do begin to arise; will the dream ever be realised? What about the troubles that have constantly plundered the Snowdonia Park? Has approval been given by council authorities for the highly-regulated riverfront land usage? Would the community prefer a Kelly-flavoured ride here instead?
