How about that Jordy Smith right now? Stab ain’t so into perpetuating rivalries, but between Mr Smith and Mr De Souza, the tour’s kinda hot. Anyhow, as you well know since you’ve already read this, the top 34 were told to come prepared for a big party at Cloudbreak this year. “Bring your big guns,” they were told (in so many words). “There’s big game to slay.” So, what if Restaurants is on and the event lands there every day? Worse things have happened. But with most airlines enjoying such a perverse kink for extra charges on oversized baggage, the safety of an over-prepared quiver ain’t always an option. How do you then decide what to pack for a contest on Tavarua? If you’re Jordy Smith, you pack this:

– Step Up: 6’9″x19″1/4’x2″7/8′
– Step Up: 6’6″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′
– Step Up: 6’5″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′
– Proton Step Up: 6’5″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′
– Step Up: 6’4″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′ (two of these)
– Rookie: 6’3″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′
– Fred Rubble: 6’3″x19″1/4’x2″5/8′

All five fin option (Futures). Now, y’may notice that there’s only five boards in the photos here. That’s ’cause our man Travis Lee from Channel Islands snapped them before a bunch more boards were added. Who else hopes that Jordy needs to wax the 6’9″?
