Jamie Mitchell Breaks Sternum Surfing Puerto Escondido

It was a cracker of a day!

If you’ve been scrolling through IG (and you have) then you’ve noticed Oaxacas notorious stretch of sand has been lighting up. Which in turn has brought the world’s best big-wave surfers down.

Among them, was Jamie Mitchell (check this but he may have won that event of Nazare or something last year). Jamie, while just trying to get one more slid into and took his board to the chest. When Mr Mitchell made it back to the sand, he had to be whisked away to the hospital with a broken sternum.

According to Jamie’s Instagram: “Not the photo I  was hoping to post from #puertoescondido. Long story short is I’ll be fine. I fractured my sternum and thanks to everyone who helped and reached out yesterday. Special thanks to @nnm.project and @coconogales for organising the best doctor to look after me. Also @gerglong and @neo.pirate for the amazing smoothie and taco while I was starving waiting to be released. I’m on the way to LA today to get some more scans and X-ray’s and start the rehab process. Already looking forward to the next swell and surfing with all my brothers. #peaceout.”

Jamie is in a stable condition now, which Stab is more than glad to hear. We wish him a quick recovery.
