Gallery: Beer Pong, Live Music And An Outdoor Soiree

Is there a better way to spend the final moments of one’s weekend?

Yesterday in Victoria Park, Western Australia we proved that Sunday doesn’t always have to be a drag. Instead of surrendering to the week ahead and wallowing in a pool of our post-Saturday guilt (and or filth from the evening before), we figured it’d be best to get back on that horse and ride – squeeze a little more out of what was left of our visit out west.

Together with Alex Lahey, The Belligerents, Verge Collection, Harry Bryant and the rest of our Summer Bright Summer Sessions squad, we descended upon The Embargo Container Bar, on the banks of the Swan River, to throw a mini-festival of sorts. People brought along their canine friends, they sipped beer, tapped ping pong balls, sampled cuisine from a shanty town of groovy containers and threw their hands up in front of an outdoor stage.

Once again our favourite West Oz four piece, Verge Collection, took the stage first. They belted out their finest under the setting afternoon sun, which understandably does look better on this side of the country. Ping pong balls began spending more time on the ground than over the table, a seated audience began standing and more heads emerged as The Belligerents plugged in. Harry Bryant weaved his way through the crowd to get a closer look.

Alex Lahey saw out the evening’s festivities. The growl of her Fender Mustang reverberated off the nearby steel structures, people came down from their private balconies and filled the remaining gaps in front of the stage. We were pushed aside by enthusiastic fans, driving us to the back of the pack, an ample opportunity to catch our breath after a week of boat rides, local wildlife, surfing, drinking and live entertainment.

Today we’re late for our airport check in. Currently scrambling to join the rest of the east coast enjoying the remnants of Cyclone Gita. We’ve got more shooting to do and more free parties to throw, so stay tuned for our video wrap from the weekend that was and swipe through the above gallery from Life Without Andy and check all the details on the upcoming shows below.
