Coming Soon: Dion Agius’ Sustainability Driven Surf Film ‘Dark Hollow’
Years of work highlighted by an eco-friendly clothing capsule, a full-length surf film, and a hardcover book.
Named after the Tasmanian Surf break, Dion Agius’ Dark Hollow takes on multiple channels of expression. We’ve scrolled through the low-velocity threads before, but now we are met by a trailer for an upcoming film. Dion shot and filmed the project in collaboration with Globe’s very own Joe Guglielmino.
Aside from noteworthy surfing, Dark Hollow aims to protect endangered wild areas around Tasmania. According to Dion, “Joe G and I have been working on Dark Hollow for the past few years. It’s grown and evolved over time, but it has always taken its core inspiration from my home state of Tasmania. The film is our vision of how the world could be if we looked after it, and features appearances from some of my best friends, including Craig Anderson and Chippa Wilson.”
The Dark Hollow capsule features illustrations by LA-based tattoo artist Nathan Kostechko, and will be featured in a hardcover book. The book will release in partnership with Wasted Talent, alongside the premiere of the film in mid-May.
It’s also worth noting that Globe and Dion will be donating a minimum of $15,000 (AUD) to the Bob Brown Foundation as part of the film’s launch.
