Dane Reynolds receives Snapper wildcard

“I hope it’s Kelly,” says Dane Reynolds of the chance he’ll face the 11-times champ in his first round at the Quiksilver Pro, Snapper. “It would be fun.” While he ain’t on tour for 2012, Dane was today confirmed as one of the wildcards for Snapper. As mentioned above though, he’s not phased by the possibility of facing Kelly in round one. Similarly to what Kelly’s said in the past, Dane’s comments suggest that he’s in it for the waves. “I’ve surfed this event as many times as a wildcard as I have a WCT surfer and the wave can be super fun,” he said. “It can be barrels or peelers so it’s good for everything. I rate it (Snapper) highly.”
The prospect of a round one match up between Dane and Kelly at Snapper really does thrill. Especially if Dane’s performance mirrors Kelly’s comments about him: “If you watch a guy like Dane Reynolds, who obviously is one of the greatest surfers in the world, he could end up being one of the greats of all time and technically, right now, he is as good as anyone has ever been,” said Kelly. “He doesn’t hold back in contests.”
Even more exciting is this concept since the last clip Dane released on his website. Now we just gotta hope that Kelly turns up, too.
