Dane Reynolds’ quiver for Snapper
(Above photo of Dane board-testing by William Sharp, via Instagram @paradiseguy) Dane Reynolds will compete in the Quiksilver Pro, Snapper Rocks this year as a wildcard – this you already know and love. One thing you can always rely on Dane for is a bag of interesting clubs. But, you probably won’t see the fruitier ones under his feet while he’s in a jersey. “Say if I’m going to do the US Open or something like that, I guess the biggest difference is that you just really try to get a board that feels natural,” Dane said at the Pipe Masters last year. “Because sometimes there’s boards that do weird stuff, like releases and stuff, and that can be good for filming. But you don’t want any surprises in a heat.” If you’re as interested by this man’s movements as we are, then you may like to know what Dane will be wheeling out of Coolangatta airport. From left: Two DFRs of identical dimensions, those being: 6’1″x 18’5/8″x 2’7/16″. Then, there’s two different sizes of the same model – a new model Dane’s been working on a lot lately, called the # 4: 5’7″x 19’1/2″x 2’7/16″, and 5’9″x 19’1/4″x 2’7/16″. Then, there’s the little sky blue Weirdo Ripper, which fills out to 5’9″x 19’1/4″x 2’7/16″. Will the kinky, smaller pieces get a run at Snapper, or will it be all about the DFRs?
