Dane Reynolds Injures Himself Surfing Backdoor

The North Shore’s most photographed widow maker just annihilated another poor suitor, Dane Reynolds. Analysing an Instagram video, Mr Reynolds mistimes a backdoor takeoff and elevators through the air before getting detonated by the collapsing lip. Seconds later he emerges from the water, grimacing in pain, with half a board floating nearby.

From his Instagram: “Either you get blown out and you feel so rad and proud and stoked, or you get an elevator drop to the reef and bruise your tailbone and crack a vertebrae. Such a fine line that defines your future when you take a wave at pipe! I got absolutely dominated last week.”

Clearly, he’s in a stable enough condition to type an update on his status, which is great to see. But, in saying that, a bruised tailbone and a broken vertebrae is seriously painful biz, and nothing anyone would desire to go through. So, Dane, if you’re reading this, Stab has an apex appreciation for your new company, your surfing and really your existence in general. Get better soon.
