Tragedy has struck the decorated Noosa points as a surfer has been pulled ‘lifeless’ from the rocks at Tea Tree at 7:40am this morning. The 34-year old has since been rushed to hospital but after receiving CPR for 30 minutes it is unlikely that he will be revived.

The points at Noosa are currently receiving a barrage of swell and appropriate winds. Unfortunately, what should have been a morning of offshore tubes and stretched out walls has instead brought the passing of a 34-year old bodyboarder who was ‘rocking off’ prior to getting stuck inside.

According to reports from the scene, the man got stuck between the rocks and incoming sets while trying to paddle out.

“He tried to jump off (the rocks) and got washed in,” Reads a quote from The Sunshine Coast Daily“I just got out the back and there was a person screaming for help. A few people went in and tried to get him up the side of the rocks. It took about 20 minutes with everyone trying to get him up.

“There was a young fella who was in there trying to keep him afloat.” The man continued “He had no pulse, [and wasn’t] breathing.”

A helicopter and paramedics arrived at the scene after three individuals had given the man CPR. The man has since been raced to hospital, although is reported to have being ‘lifeless’ at the time of the paramedics arriving. Given the location of the incident – within the Noosa Nation Park region – it is incredibly difficult to get there and is labelled a ‘blackspot’ by the local surf life-saving club.

Our thoughts go out to those involved in the rescue attempt this morning and the friends and family of the 34-year old man.

Stay safe out there.
