The student surfer received 50-80 stitches in his leg.
Around noon at Sandspit Beach in Montaña de Oro a surfer was attacked by an unknown species of shark. Details around the attack are scare, but it’s reported the surfer has made his way to hospital and is in a stable condition, although received 50-80 stitches in his leg.
@Ashiaziam uploaded a shot of a surfboard with a large bite mark between the fins on a thruster. A photo which is currently doing the usual round on social media.
“Couple guys went surfing soon after someone got attacked, 50-80 stitches.” @azhiaziam told Stab. “It happened at Sandspit in Los Osos, a place where most attacks are happening these days.”
Corbett Horn, a local surf shop manager, told the San Luis Tribune he was bitten from behind on his leg and foot. “…he was able to shove it off with his other foot. He got cleaned up, and he’s getting some stitches now.”
No formal report was made, but State Parks have since heard about the attack and are reportedly making their way to the hospital to interview the surfer.
We’ll update as more information comes to light.
