Are You An Accidental Wildcard In The World’s First Virtual Surf Competition?
Rip Curl SearchGPS owners could be taking four mates on an all-expenses paid Fiji trip worth $40K.
Surf watches.
Tell you your top speed, distance paddled, wave count, session time, and real time tide, swell and wind information. I like that in a time of ubiquitous wearables connecting you to a million different information channels – the SearchGPS goes deep and narrow on pure surfing.
Core product.
We’ve used Rip Curl SearchGPS watches in several of our projects from S.U.R.F to Stab in the Dark with Mick Fanning to put hard numbers to surfing and gather otherwise impossible insights. Why’s that useful? Per every wearable marketing campaign, “If you can measure it, you can change it”. Plus, who doesn’t want to gamify their surfs against the world’s best?
But the best part of owning a Rip Curl SearchGPS is that if you logged your sessions between the 4 – 14 March, 2023 you are now running to win an all-expenses paid trip for you and four mates to Namotu Island in Fiji worth more than $40,000 AUD.
Yep, the first ever Rip Curl Virtual Pro presented by Tourism Fiji champion gets the whole suite including: five return flights and five nights accommodation at the ultimate surfing destination, plus, brand new wetsuits and a $500 Rip Curl gift voucher.
The winner will be announced June 4th, 2023

How it works
Rip Curl analyzed your data from their supercomputer in the international space station, and scored you in real-time. The scoring criteria was based on 2 key metrics: wave length and wave speed. Bonus points were allocated for surfing a new location and cadence (a wave every 4 minutes).
Fortunately, Italo was not in the running, who caught 63 waves in a one hour session in SITD.
