Ain’t that Swell – Episode Five
Here at Ain’t that Swell we’re committed to bringing you your weekly dredge of surfing and hooowee, what a dredge it is this week. We dive headlong into the sordid history of wave pools…in song, as well as chat to the man leading the race to build the first ever fully functioning tube generator (spoiler: it’s not Kelly). Chippa Wilson steps off an Indonesian boat and straight into the Ain’t that Swell studio (we checked his papers, they’re in order) to play us a few tracks and tell us about the ten days he spent on a leaky vessel with surfing’s man of the moment, John John Florence. He also reveals the regret owing to the massive Aussie Pride tattoo on his chest, as well as tells us why he believes the antics that went down during the recent Kustom Airstrike trip were some of the most dangerous ever attempted by surfers. Finally, with the eastern seaboard of America witnessing its most frenetic start to a hurricane season in recorded history, we catch up with Alek Parker and Brett Barley, two of the men who spend their days chasing the storms for surf. And this is why Alek Parker and Brett Barley risk driving straight at giant hurricanes just for surf… “THE HUNT” Earl from ALEK PARKER on Vimeo. Miss the Fiji Special and Dave Wassel’s now viral commentary highlights from the Volcom Fiji, Pro? You kookin’ it man. Quick, click here. Does a homeless pro surfer feather your curiosity? Warren Smith joins us to play some tracks and tell us his story, as well as Josh Kerr live from his honeymoon in Fiji and world’s best indie surf culture festival. Here it is, sucker. For Al Knost, Lewis Samuels and Canuck Pro, Peter Devries in episode two, clickety clack over here. For the legendary Ozzie Wright, World Tour surfer, Matt Wilkinson and Irish Pro, Fergal Smith in episode one, click here.
