Slater Tests His Gamma Two Ways At Surf Ranch
Different makes, same model.
Kelly Slater has ridden a few surfboards in his time.
In fact, one might even call the 11x Champ an “expert” on identifying the performance qualities of any specific surf craft.
And if we were to take away certain variables, like, say, the shape and size of both the boards he’s testing and the waves he’s riding them on, Slater could probably isolate a few notable characteristics about their respective constructions.
Luckily for the tech-hungry viewer, Kelly does just that in the video above, taking his two 5’10 Gammas (one of a Helium build, the other in Linear Flex Technology) to the Surf Ranch to find their sweet spots.
His synopsis?
LFT construction is heavier and works better in more down-the-line surf. Meanwhile, the lighter Helium is more lively underfoot and likes hollow sections and turning tight in the pocket.
You can check them both out here, and stay tuned for our SD Gamma Joyride, coming soon!
