Dane Reynolds, Eithan Osborne, Bobby Martinez And Channel Islands’ Small Wave Smash Hit Of The Summer
There’s a reason Channel Islands can’t build FishBeard’s fast enough.
Would you believe us if we told you we’ve been waiting, patiently, for months to get our supple hands on one of the new Channel Islands FishBeards?
The new Parker Coffin x Britt Merrick model reimagins Dane Reynolds irreverently iconic (also, best-selling) chop-tail thruster, as a deep-swallow twin keel (surely the result of one of Parker Coffin’s hazier visits to the Carpinteria shaping bays).
Over the last three months, the California team has had FishBeards on heavy rotation, especially on the more often than not below-average afternoons this spring. The edit above features Dane Reynolds, Parker Coffin, Conner Coffin, Sebastian Zietz, Eithan Osbourne, Yadin Nicol, Mikey February, Cliff Kapono, Alex Gray, Patrick Gudauskas, Tanner Gudauskas, and more.

We got a first glimpse at the FishBeard this time last year, while on location with Michael February filming “Go easy On The Zambezi.” The tuned up traditional fish outline merged with the Neck Beard’s straighter curves, modern shortboard rails, and simple bottom shape it looked, well, sick—like a twinny you could seriously commit to turns on. Certainly didn’t hurt that the boys had dug into their stash of deadstock ’80s Channel Islands logos (see above).

We’ve heard rave reviews of off the rack FishBeards, especially the few spine-tek models friends have managed to find left on dealer’s racks post-Stimulus Package Board Boom. The Aussie crew picked up a few stock PUs from our Byron Bay neighbors OnBoard and have been thoroughly vibing with them. Not surprisingly, the board has been back ordered for months now.
We’re still holding out for our customs here in the LA office (the boys are just getting caught up on orders, and can now whip out custom orders in a matter of weeks, and let me tell you the experience tweaking models through their tech and seeing the resulting magic materialize is an exceptional one). The team edit above featured Dane Reynolds, Eithan Osborne, Bobby Martinez, and more, and was cobbled together by Gothic Dolphins Alex Kopps, has us even more impatient. How fun do these things look!
