Best Wetsuits 2020: Feral 3mm2 Chest-Zip
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

In last year’s wetsuit test, Feral blew me away with its sleek feel, high-quality rubber, and subtle design aesthetic. While it didn’t win any particular awards, the Feral was my favorite suit of the bunch, and one I continued to regularly wear up until our 2020 Best Wetsuits test.
And wouldn’t you know it, those clever bastards dropped the same. exact. suit. on my doorstep this year. Now you might be thinking, “What, they didn’t update their product at all over the course of 12 months?” No, they didn’t. That’s the benefit of using the finest neoprene in the market (Yamamoto) and employing simple, ergonomic cuts—innovation on an annual basis is simply not necessary.
As I noted in our 2020 Best Wetsuits film, just holding a Feral suit in your hands will reveal its superior quality. All the fancy linings and “12-way stretch” fibers in the world can’t beat the feel of Yamamoto neoprene. While it’s a little tight for the first couple surfs, the stuff does eventually loosen up—or more accurately, it molds to your body. And because Feral has such a simple operation, they keep their price point low (relative to the cost of the raw materials), which is a win for the rest of us.
For me, this is the best value-buy in our entire 2020 Best Wetsuits test. It’s an incredible suit that will last a long time. Get ‘em while they’re hot.
