Imogen Caldwell is a balance of beauty and danger. Here she holds them together in harmony, creating a powerful allure in the Ments. She’s a rare flower in red dirt, she’s hotter than Africa, and is no stranger to well-overhead surf.

This gallery of Miss Caldwell is different from our normal profession of ardour. Instead of straddling a motorcycle in West Oz, we find her sliding into the dreamscape of the Ments, where she was accompanied by friends from the west, Brad Norris, Phil “Choppa” Read and lensman Chris White. “We went over there for a swell that had pushed up from South Africa and were met with perfect conditions most of the days,” she told Stab. “The lineups weren’t too busy, and I try not to let anyone push me around. Plus, I had Brad boosting me into a couple at Kandui!”

Chris White told us, “Imogen was getting barreled every surf. Coming from the North West of WA she loves her lefts and you could tell she was really comfortable over the shallow reefs. She’s so petite but still manages to push over foam balls. She copped a few beatings and lost her top and her board! I even saw her adjusting her hair deep in a barrel. She takes it all in her stride though and it’s pretty impressive to watch first hand.”

“Most sessions she was just waiting for the biggest sets and taking off deep,” continued Chris. “Dude’s were just shaking their heads and clapping when she’d take off. She had no trouble navigating the crowds.”
