Taj Burrow, Riot at North Point, WA
This week, a portion of the West Oz coastline has enjoyed a steaming, west-south-west groundswell. Building from the weekend and peaking, like, kinda yesterday, one of the pockets that the swell danced into was North Point. Taj Burrow is home for a stint between the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach and the Billabong Pro, Rio (there’s a month from the last day of Bells’ waiting period to the first of Rio’s). It’s hard to say whether he’ll stay put for the whole stretch, but one thing’s for certain – if a swell hits WA, he’ll be on it. Case in point, this photograph of TB powering through a North Point bomb yesterday. Photographer Calum Macaulay was down at Supertubes at first light, but it was a little slow. Within 90 minutes, howevs, it was maxing out. “So, I headed straight to Norths,” Cal says. “Which was really pumping. Cleanup sets, the whole deal. Taj was absolutely Ripping.”
