Stab’s Floating Hair Salon, Mentawai Islands, Indonesia

We ain’t just into pretty clothes and finners. If your hair ain’t right, we’re here to help. Like Ev Geiselman, the kid with a swooping haircut as hostile as anything we’ve seen, pictured here during Red Bull’s Minor Threat trip last week. “I want a Bieber,” said Ev. “I  had my long-hair look for the trip and now I’m ready to change it up. Straight back into the Cali summer.” “I think you’ve managed to set out what you wanted to achieve,” said Bruce on Evan’s new do. “You definitely look gay.” When photog Jason Kenworthy checked the resulting cut, he asked: “Does the haircut come with a scarf?” With blunt scissors, Sam McIntosh tore into the wigs of five surfers on board. Ian Walsh, who usually does the clippered head grown out, opted for a clean short, back and sides. “I am so ready for Sydney,” he said approvingly. Kolohe Andino’s personal filmer, Noah, had strict instructions for his cut: “I want a haircut like (San Clemente new romantic) Luke Davis.” He received a top-heavy special. “You look good,” said Kolohe. Red Bull’s Peter Jasienski joined the procession of cutting, stopping the haircut two thirds of the way through. “This is me right now,” he said of his two parts rockabilly, one part LA street chic look. After ridiculing the cuts and trying to spray the salon deck with the ski (the back deck of Indies Trader IV), even Bruce wanted a new look instead of his typical self-styled mirror cuts. “Okay, I want in on this,” he said. “Baby, I’m coming in hot! Like a steam train! This is my shortest hair I’ve had since I was a grom. I am so on!” For more of Ryan Miller’s awesome work, head over to his website here.
