Ryan Callinan unshackles fin-release, SW Australia
Newcastle’s Ryan Callinan, pictured here, was surfing bad waves at Gas Bay, near Margaret River, when he and his gang which included Craig Anderson, Dino Adrian and Dillon Perillo, noticed a kinky little left spinning a few hundred metres down the beach. “We strolled down there and Rhino was going pretty ham, actually,” says the photographer John Respondek. “He’s sick… consistent hammers thrown down. I usually like his backhand better but I was liking the finners he was doing. Most people I shoot with these days have no business being anywhere near a contest rashie but I have no doubt this guy should be on the World Tour.”
