Photog Brad Malyon just made the move from the bright lights of Sydney to the less bright but still nice lights of Newcastle, a city two and a half hours north renowned for its coal exports, university, and Mark Richards. Oh, and Matt Hoy, Craig Anderson, and Ryan Callinan. So on his first night shooting from the water, Brad, who made the move after accepting a job on the tug boats (a regular site chugging outta the harbour), found himself focusing on that last cat, Ryan, at a left on the Merewether to Bar Beach stretch where Mr Callinan does his best work. This frontside number is a a tune Ryan knows, and plays, well. He blasted a few of these before jumping a plane to scoop some clips in West Oz – a place that makes a whole lot of noise this time of year.
