With Coolangatta chugging to life for the 2011 Quiksilver Pro, starting in six days, you’ll begin to see an influx of photos featuring locals and internationals going loony around the points (Snapper, Kirra, Burleigh) and the D-bah playground (pictured here).

It won’t be uncommon in the coming weeks to see locals like Nick Vasicek (pictured here) stepping up their game. This ‘oop, though not landed, is a good example of the kinda large-scale flaring you’ll see. We’re generally averse to using un-landed gear, but according to photog Ryan Miller (who shot this), the bail-out was a last-minute job.

Says Ryan: “The waves were pretty fun at D-bah today and the wind into the lefts was just about perfect. Nick almost stomped this thing and then maybe thought about what two blown-out knees might feel like.”
